Francis Mannaert – Administration, Logistics & Technical

… was born in Anderlecht ..
In the shadow of Parc Astrid and RSC Anderlecht

Crazy about music, he participated in the formation of various rock bands in the early 70s with a musical inspiration ranging from the Rolling Stones to Genesis.

He also took music lessons (classical guitar and singing) as well as electric guitar and flute lessons

1976, he became a roadie for the brand new Belgian band MACHIAVELLI and, at first, set up the backline (instruments). One thing leading to another, he managed the lighting and special effects in the group’s shows.

1978, in search of lighting equipment for Machiavelli’s shows, he met John Van Der Heyden, lighting designer for Maurice Béjart’s Ballet du XX^ème Siècle.

This will be the real beginning of a long professional career that will be divided between Technical Direction and Lighting Design…
The latter, with a preference for the world of Dance and Music, is a passion and remains a priority.

From 1981 onwards, he took part in all the events of the Brigitte Kher Dance School in the shadows and was in charge of the staging and technique of all the shows….

In 1992, with the creation of L’Ecole de Danse SA, he took charge of all the administrative and logistical part of the school…. Brigitte is in charge of learning and teaching Dance and Artistic Direction.

At the moment, following the pandemic and while continuing his professional career and administrative work, Francis tries to ensure the day-to-day management of L’Ecole de Danse as much as possible, relying on the support of the teachers during his absences.
